Whether last month's Eclipse reverberated on the periphery of your psyche or manifested in real-time events, few have been left untouched by the intense energy. If you are one of those whose mind, body, and spirit were, or are still being rocked by sudden changes, the ensuing stress, lack of sleep, and disruptions to your routine can feel as though you have lost your foundation.
This is why I specifically chose Amethyst for this New Moon ritual meditation. It may not be the most obvious choice for the celestial union of the Luminaries in Taurus, but I selected it for its remarkable ability to provide a solid foundation after times of change and uncertainty.
We humans, after all, are very sensitive to the energies around us; we absorb them daily within our auric field. Crystal therapy is a healing modality that clears the energetic smog that gets caught in our aura. The auric field connects in layers to our physical being. As Venus, the host of this New Moon in Taurus, loves all things sensual, it is important that we focus on clearing the debris and readying ourselves to set down solid foundations for the future.
May this ritual meditation help guide you! - Saffron
Working with Amethyst
Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, one of the most abundant minerals worldwide, and easily obtained. However, if you do not have a physical piece, simply find an image of the stone that resonates with you and hold it in your mind's eye as you follow the steps below.
A stone of calm and rest, placing a piece of the crystal under your pillow or beside your bed can aid in a peaceful and restful night's sleep. It is pure nourishment for mind, body, and spirit. An Amethyst gem essence can also be used to clear your work and living space and remove the negative energy that collects around you. It is especially useful for clearing any ritual, meditation, or resting space.
The essence of this practice lies in clearing the mind to reconnect with the body, allowing the soul to express its joy freely. Your active engagement is key. Start by soothing the accumulated tension and anxieties that often linger during and after eclipse season fallout!
If you have a bath, that is a lovely indulgent way to enjoy a little ‘me’ time. Have your favourite music, smells, candles, and even a bit of chocolate! Steer clear of the alcohol, though; amethyst is the sober stone, after all. If you do not have a bath, a long hot shower works, too. No rushing; take your time.
Set your goals for healthy physical habits that ground you. Find a bit of calm and learn how to respond positively to your body's tiny signals to eat well, rest well, and have fun. Creating these solid foundations now will set you up for success as Jupiter takes up residence in the frenetic world of Gemini on May 25.
Relaxing with Amethyst
Now that you have cleared yourself and your space, it is time to settle down with your Amethyst. Again, gently arouse all your senses. Sit comfortably in your cleared space with relaxing music, a favourite scent, and candlelight. Have pen and paper to hand to write down anything that comes to mind.
Look into or just past your Amethyst with slightly closed eyes and let your mind wander. Do not force pushing thoughts away; if they come up, they are the ones that need to be dealt with in the future, but if they are worrisome, then now is the time to ask Amethyst for assistance to release the anxiety and find practical solutions to the situation. Even if that solution is letting go of the problem.
What does the energy of this stone have to say about dealing with any issues, worries, or anxieties that you have? Can you do anything about them? If you can, ask Amethyst to guide you gently; if not, ask Amethyst to calm your mind.
Once you have spent time with your crystal, acknowledge its help and jot down what you have learned through this quiet time. Keep hold of this list; you may be unable to act on them now, which is okay.
These actions should not be a ‘to-do’ list but rather a reflection of practical, sensible steps that can be taken later once you are feeling stronger in your mind and body.
We have busier times of the month coming up, but for now, in the New Moon phase, it is time to recoup. Having acknowledged that which you need to act on at a later date, take Amethyst with you to bed, pop it under your pillow or on your bedside cabinet, and ask for its assistance in gifting you a peaceful night’s sleep.
