Litha, known as the Summer Solstice, marks a time of intense light and profound reflection. As the longest day of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere) illuminates our skies, it's an opportune moment to turn inward and consider what fuels and illuminates us, much like the Sun that hangs seemingly motionless above. Litha, the "lightest of the light,” ushers in the nurturing waters of Cancer season, a time to flow with emotional currents and embrace our intuitive powers.
In this season of brightness and clarity, may this Tarot spread guide you through bright and shadowed paths alike, offering insights and clarity as you celebrate the zenith of the Sun’s journey. Happy Midsummer! – Heather
Step-by-Step Guide to Your Litha Tarot Pull
For this Tarot pull, we will use the radiant Sun card, Major Arcana #19. Symbolizing enlightenment, vitality, and the essence of our being, it can be a powerful mirror for reflecting your deepest Self and the unfolding path.
1. Prepare Your Space: Begin by creating a serene environment that reflects the celebratory nature of Litha. You might choose to surround yourself with symbols of the Sun, such as gold, yellow, or bright orange objects, and perhaps light a candle to honor the fire element.
2. Shuffle Your Deck: There’s no prescribed way to shuffle your Tarot cards. Trust your intuition and shuffle the deck until you feel it's time to stop. This is your ritual; let your inner guidance lead the way.
3. Locate The Sun Card: Once shuffled, spread the deck face up before you. Search through to find The Sun card. This card, representing the ultimate light, is your anchor for this reading.
4. Divide the Deck: Pull The Sun card out from the deck and place it separately. Then, split the deck into two piles—one consisting of all the cards that were above The Sun card and one consisting of all the cards that were below.
5. Shuffle Each Pile: Now, take each pile separately and give them a good shuffle. You will draw one card from each pile:
Card from the Pile Below (The Root Card): This card symbolizes what is 'taking root' in your life. It’s the undercurrent, the deep, often unseen forces that drive your growth and fuel your journey.
Card from the Pile Above (The Illumination Card): This card represents what is in 'peak illumination' in your life right now. It reveals what is most visible and what aspects of your life are currently under the spotlight, demanding your attention and shining brightly.
6. Reflect and Record: With The Sun card at the center, place the Root Card on its left and the Illumination Card on its right. Take time to reflect on the messages of these cards. How do they interact with The Sun card? What narrative is unfolding, and how does it resonate with where you are this time of Litha?
7. Gratitude and Closing: End your session by giving thanks— to the light, the cards, and yourself for taking the time to connect and reflect. Journal your insights to revisit as the season progresses.
