Set up your New Moon altar using any of the items from the list above. Add personal symbols like photos of loved ones, representations of your spiritual path, or the four elements. Gather four leaves (or more), preferably from flora rooted outside, or fallen to the ground. Venus is especially fond of rose petals and leaves from an apple tree. Have at the ready a pen and paper or a journal.
Begin by lighting a candle and incense. Move the smoke around to bless your altar. When ready invite planetary and spiritual guides, ancestors, the elements or directions, and all other loving guidance that wants to come. Welcome the planet of love and attraction, Venus, perhaps with a poem or a blessing.
When you are ready, choose four or more relationships, including the relationship you have with yourself. They could be human connections, other-than-human, causes, or feelings that are near and dear to your heart. Then, pick a leaf to represent each one.
One leaf, one relationship, at a time, ask yourself, “What would it look like to bring more balance, equanimity, or transparency to this relationship? How would it benefit each of us?” Reflect on the question and beckon Venus to be as detailed as she can in her responses. She’s still in Virgo co-present with an empowered Mercury, after all.
You might want to encircle your petal with stones, gems, or herbs already on your altar, honoring and anchoring thoughts and feelings as they arise. Ask the questions (or other questions that come to you), as many times as you need to bring greater intention and clarity. If you use a divination deck, pull a card for added guidance. Journal as you go, or simply speak out loud what is in your heart. When you feel complete, blow your prayers and intentions into each leaf, gently, and then do with them what you will. Perhaps scattering them to the wind.
Bring to the ceremony whatever else calls to you. Offer gratitude with a pinch of herbs, sweet liquor, flowers, a piece of chocolate, or a deep bow.
Nicely presented. Thank you.
