As our Lady Moon meets the Sun in the monthly heavenly marriage, Venus blesses the conjunction with her presence in the heart of the Sun. With Mercury, the Lord of the manor, in the house and a newly born Jupiter getting in on the act, too, we see a party in full swing. Saturn may be pressing his authority from the imminent square in Pisces, but just for today, let’s party!
Undoubtedly, a big dollop of fun is required this year! As we reach the peak of Gemini season, we should be enjoying long, sunny, warm days, balmy evenings, walks with loved ones, and just enjoying the ability to get out a bit and socialise with family and friends. Maybe where you are, it is possible, but it's still grim and cold in the UK!
By embarking on our own mental adventure and tapping into our imagination, we can transport ourselves back to a time when life was simpler, and choices were ours to make. Even if our youth had been filled with some level of responsibility, giving ourselves the freedom to create our own mental space as adults can help us release tension and anxiety, especially for those who resonate strongly with the Mercurial energy.
I hope many of you share your journey with us at Astrum Opus. We would love to hear from you and learn how you feel after letting the inner child out of its box.
Wishing you joy and laughter - Saffron
Dalmatian Stone
The crystal that captures youthful playfulness is the Dalmatian Stone, or Dalmatian Jasper as it is sometimes called, though not actually a Jasper! Think 101 puppies full of the ecstasy of life, and you have the essence of this stone.
The creamy white is mainly a mix of feldspar and quartz, and the black dots thought originally to be tourmaline, are actually arfvedsonite.
The combination of the dark stone grounds us in the body while the light lifts our mind and spirit. As the Gemini energy in the air is curious, playful, and a little mischievous, our meditation gets us thinking about our exuberance as a youthful spirit of the Universe, no matter your Earthly age.
As the energy builds in the skies with Saturn pressing its weight on the Gemini party, sometimes, we need to lift out of the responsibility we enforce on ourselves as adults or are handed to us, and just for a few hours, let our spirits run free to explore, be curious, and ultimately have fun.
Gemini New Moon Meditation
Remember, before working with any new crystal, to cleanse the energy with sound, a singing bowl or tingsha bells, in the smoke of white sage, or under clear running water. Programme your crystal to work with your best intent by holding it in your cupped hands. Imagine a white light enveloping you, and ask your crystal to work with you for your highest good.
Mercury, the Lord of Gemini, could not sit still or be in one place for more than a few minutes; FOMO was something They could not bear, so They looked into every nook and cranny to find out the latest news and gossip or were on an adventure, or told a story, all themes connected with this New Moon.
This month, rather than sitting still or lying in one place, this is a movement meditation. I ask you to take your Dalmatian Stone with you on many playful adventures. Carry the stone and think about the following themes over the next Lunar cycle. Dalmatian Stone will enhance the lifting of spirit and allow you to release the youthful spirit within.
Just remember, with all the points listed below, to do the things that are safe for your body. Do not dive off the top board in the swimming pool if it's been a few decades since you last tried it! Please do not injure yourself!
When you were a child, what was your favourite story? Have you visited that story recently? Go back and either reread it (even better if you have young folk about to read it to and share!) or watch a film or theatre adaptation and remember how the story made you feel the first time you heard it. Was it magical, mystical, funny, adventurous? Did you want to take on those roles in your childhood play? Can you role-play in a completely childlike manner again? Become an astronaut, a dancer, a magician, a zookeeper, or a racing driver, even if it is just in your imagination. Let yourself go; keep the adult judgment out of it!
What was your favourite piece of music as a child? Was it attached to a TV or radio show? Was it something you danced and sang to at the top of your voice without shame? How freeing was that feeling? Can you sing with complete abandon NOW, even if it is in the shower or in the car? Get your favourite tunes out and sing and dance with joy.
Where were your favourite places to play? Did you enjoy the beach, collecting stones or shells? Or maybe a meadow where you collected grasses and flowers. A woodland with leaves and sticks? You may have loved sports and enjoyed a park with team games or a swimming pool where you could dive in and make a big splash. Go back to these beloved places and remember how it felt to be there without an agenda other than just enjoying the time. Take friends and family and encourage them to join in with play.
Meet up with loved ones and agree to have a no-worries day where you just frolic in the moment. There will be no discussions of politics, finances, etc. (Saturn will try and encroach, but it’s a no to Saturn day). Those things, though important, can be discussed outside this sacred space of joy.
What do you enjoy as an adult that is playful? Do you enjoy board games or building models? Can you play an instrument? Maybe get a few friends together and have a jamming session. Puzzles, reading, colouring, or baking a cake can all be activities you choose to do for no other reason than to enjoy the time.
Try these themes out, even if only for a few minutes a day, and feel how much tension can be released from your mind and body when you allow yourself to have unbridled fun. Releasing endorphins from exercise and laughter frees and affirms the spirit and soul.
If you enjoy journalling, Gemini season is a perfect time to record the thoughts that come up over this cycle as you release the shackles to your fun and freedom. Maybe you could share your newfound fun adventures with others in a blog or vlog?
