Saddled at the final degree of Sagittarius, Sol hangs back to witness the infusion Luna receives from her host, Jupiter, at the Aries point. Newly returned to the sign of the Ram, Jupiter is raring to go. Anticipating a hot date when the Sun enters Capricorn, this dynamic cardinal duo square exactly at the moment of the Winter Solstice! (It’s always such a pleasure to witness how Luna knows how to be at the right place at the right time to delineate the comings, goings, and becomings of our material fortune.)
As she rides in with the body of a horse cross-dressing as a human, she shifts from Third Quarter to Balsamic phase. Intuition brimming to premonitory, she can feel her host’s big moment, but she doesn’t see the Sun. Synchronizing in synodic kinship, Jupiter and the Sun are also in their Third Quarter phase. Clearing out our collective pallets, it’s time to envision the taste of something new, full-bodied, and generous.
With unusual humility and the support of Saturn in Aquarius, the Sagittarius Moon stands guard outside the city gates protecting potent Solstice rituals. Mars in Gemini attempts to breach the wall uninvited but she opposes him with enough gusto to keep the pageantry unmarred.
Neptune throws a little sleep potion Luna’s way; after all, she is an almost blackened Moon. Blissfully tired, like a passionate herb farmer bringing in the medicine of harvest, she lets down her seeds at this yin time of year. Follow your instincts. Burn a little past your energy, then, sleep in as night pervades the sky.
This is a time of activation and rest. Yield to the influx of inspiration and nap in equal measure. By solar decree, we have moved from the wild play of half-human horses to the straight-up-the-mountain hike of goats. Something is being born; enjoy the new visions Luna brings after an entire Fall of letting go. Still, save your energy for the long haul.
Consider this:
Given this is Jupiter’s second time traversing the early degrees of Aries, note what was taking shape from early May to late October 2022. The new story is actually a well-worn myth, the legs of which began at that time. The Solstice is also a ripe time for review. What can you savor from the last fruits of fall that can feed the fertile darkness of potential?
