As we stand in awe at the visual spectacle of the Moon gliding over the face of the Sun, the light dims, and a brief twilight occurs. The brightest of the stars can be witnessed, reminding us that the night sky is ever present behind the light of our mighty Sun. We are always tumbling through the Universe, and it can be a very humbling experience to remember that without our Sun to warm, protect, and keep us on track, our Earth would be a pile of rock floating in space, aimless, with no purpose.
Solar Eclipses are so powerful to us humans in part because we have the Mercurial intellect to compute the exact time and date that this phenomenon occurs. However, we are also animal enough to feel the panic when our life-giving light is briefly shut out.
With the energy of this Eclipse in the sign of Aries the Ram, we can consider our headstrong impulses and drive to be quelled a little. Maybe we have worked too hard or had some stress recently. Are there jobs that need to be done but have taken up precious relaxation time? In our busy modern world, we often tell ourselves that the needs of others eclipse our own.
The eclipse season allows us to examine what needs to be completed or a signal to prepare for a new start. These times can be stressful and full of anxiety if we let them. However, we can choose to create healthy new experiences.

Carnelian
At the physical level, Carnelian boosts metabolism by helping the body assimilate nutrients. On an emotional level, it gives us the strength to deal with past hurts and to move forward with courage. Carnelian helps alleviate a lack of motivation, giving us the energy we need to complete important tasks. Carnelian is also a stone that encourages our creative output as it is connected to the sacral chakra and imbues us with the joie de vivre effect, ushering us from darkness to light.
Crystal Meditation for Releasing Old Wounds
Before participating in this meditation, please read through the whole transcript so that you can prepare yourself for the journey.
At first, this may feel uncomfortable, and that is understandable in times of stress and anxiety. Therefore, it may take a couple of workings through this meditation to fully process this information with the assistance of Carnelian.
Please note that this meditation is not suitable for addressing considerable trauma experiences. I highly recommend you work with a trained professional if you require extra support.
If you do not have a carnelian on hand, you can use an image of the stone as a guide or picture the stone in your mind's eye. The energy vibration is what is important; however, there is nothing like the real thing!
As always, when preparing for a ritual or meditation, clear your working area as best you can. Also, take a bath or shower to cleanse the mind and body, especially if you have been worried or concerned throughout the day. You do not want minor or petty worries to come to mind when focusing on this meditation.
This meditation can be used on the day of the eclipse or any other time you feel a need to move from the past into a healthier future. After all, a solar eclipse is the beginning of a new lunar cycle, only on a grander scale.
I suggest lying down and relaxing in a safe place. Your bed would be the best suggestion here, so it may be best to activate this meditation in the evening or first thing in the morning when you are in a relaxed state.
If you have black tourmaline, place it at the bottom of your feet for grounding and added protection. And then, place your carnelian on the site of your sacral chakra.
The Meditation
Once you are lying comfortably, close your eyes. Take in a deep breath, hold, and then breathe out. Repeat this two more times.
Now, breathe and return to its natural rhythm. Remember throughout, you are safe, in your bed, warm and relaxed.
As you keep your breath regular, imagine you begin to float above the bed, where you can see your body lying still. You notice yourself calm and relaxed and see a golden thread connecting your ethereal body to your physical body.
Being unleashed from your physical self allows you to have a detachment from any physical pain or emotional stress.
Slowly, move away from your body with the gold thread connecting you between your physical and ethereal belly buttons.
The freedom you now feel is euphoric as you are no longer shackled to the day-to-day humdrum and drama of life.
As you drift further away from your body, take yourself now to a place in time where you feel that part of you and your history needs to be healed with the motivation that you may move forward in the future.
Remember, your body is in a safe, warm, comfortable environment.
Consider the event, person, or place that you feel you need to let go of. Something that you wish to make a healthy part of your history and where you wish to leave peace and love, whether that be something from many years past or a current situation that has caused hurt or difficulty.
When you reach the point in time, allow yourself to participate in the event as you would if you were a non-involved spectator. You are safe throughout the process.
You find that you can live through the events of that time without any strong emotion but as a witness to your life and the experiences that you have lived through.
As you participate in this event from a distance, allow yourself to feel a sense of deep love for yourself and, if possible, the event itself.
If you believe that you could have done better in this situation, acknowledge that thought, then decide that if a similar event occurs in your future, you will be able to use your experience to be stronger, wiser, and more resilient.
Take your time in this space to acknowledge that when you return to your physical body, you may still feel emotional about this time in your history, but from now on, you will also know that you did the best that you could and that you give yourself love, compassion, and understanding.
Once you have spent the time you need in this place leave here with peace and love.
Move now to a place that you perceive as peaceful and tranquil, your favourite place. Take some time to rest and recuperate, spend some time here, and know that you can come back at any point, wherever and whenever you are.
When you are ready to return to your body, follow the golden thread connecting your ethereal body to your physical self. Then, as you see your body below, gently reconnect to your physical self.
Now you are as one, spend some time taking notice of your breath.
Then, note your body. Start from your toes and wiggle them gently.
Move to your feet and circle your ankles slowly.
Tense and relax your calf muscles. Feel the joints in your knees, then move to your hips, buttocks, and lower back, pressing against the bed you are lying in.
Feel your spine, strong and supple, and then move up to your neck. Gently move your neck and head from side to side.
Feel your breath as it enters and exits your nose. Move to the top of your head and imagine a white light pooling over you from the crown, over your body, and down to your feet.
Take in a deep breath and release. And two times more.
Once you are ready, open your eyes.
In Conclusion
If you want to remember your experiences through this meditation, write them down in your journal and then drink a glass of water.
After this meditation, your crystals will need to be cleansed. For Carnelian, avoid salt water. Burying them in brown rice or in the earth directly is a good way to release the energy from the meditation.
It is always worth purchasing a few Carnelian pieces to carry and place in bags with your other stones, as they are great for recharging other crystals.
