Loved this sooo much Saffron. The cycle of Fall Equinox mostly means time for me to mulch and hands in the soil for its health and mine. The days still pleasant-- nights colder here now in Calgary as I prep for winter.
I love my small garden even given gardening is a short season here. I always talk to all my beautiful Clematis vines (a gift from a friend when we moved in 24 yrs ago). Hydrangeas, Peonies (taken from Moms garden lovingly reminding me of her), countless bulbs, Mallow flowers. When as each pared off is provided with kind words, to sleep well until next spring -- ever hopeful each end means a new beginning come Spring. As for fish we do get some, but in the mountains its Salmon's cousin the Trout.
I am sure the cold is starting to snap at your fingertips over there in Calgary! Keep warm.
It is wonderful that plants can continue to bring so much joy over many years when they pass from garden to garden, and with care and attention, they bloom for generations. Peonies are my favourite flowers and always make me smile when they show their faces in the spring.
Just a little update, as it is too good not to mention.
Zeus the Thunderer visited twice, once last night before the Equinox flooding roads and making a LOT of noise, and then again this afternoon just after the Equinox. I should have guessed that with the last eclipse being a Pisces precursor it would signify an epic thunderstorm or two and a deluge of water!
So interesting about the rising sign/seasonal correlations!
Also, I love the story about the salmon and the filbert/hazel. My Swiss ancestors were hazel farmers in Oregon, and my Finnish/Indigenous American ancestors were salmon fishermen in the same region of the US, but I had never heard a connection between the fish and the nut!
