A gripping analysis, Michelle! Thanks so much for sharing this incredible life story. That balsamic moon fits in well with this narrative and that Mars…oof… it look like it’s piercing through a benefic enclosure of her Mercury. Intense!! Would that Mars below the descendant be considered a sign of her finding resolution through death? And also fame or recognition?
Excellent observations and great point about the Balsamic Moon! There's so much treasure in this chart, isn't there? Yes, very intense for sure... I love what you said about the setting Mars, who really does seem to point to her posthumous success.
Actually, it reminds me of something she said: "Good to know that if I ever need attention all I have to do is die."
Good call... I typically don't take that into consideration but it does feel like it adds to the inner turmoil she experienced, where she's caught in Rahu and Ketu's spell.
Oh, and Mercury's trine to Pluto definitely makes a lot of sense as well!
Yes! An authentic Scorpio. I have some of the natal stuff going on in my chart. When I first found her work, and wasn’t into Astro, her words resonated with me during a time I was diagnosed with atypical depression. That was 20 years ago! I wonder who she would have been had she lived longer. Someone even more amazing for sure.
Loved this! She is one of my favorite writers and I have quite a collection of her books. This was such a wonderful view of her through astrology. Wow! So good. Thank you Michelle!

Thank you, Rawia!
I find that frightening that she sensed and said that! The desperation! Could that Pluto and its aspects also be a contributing factor?
I was also initially struck by the nodes squaring her MC/IC. Would you take that into consideration with the overall analysis?

Beautiful essay. I love seeing her astro depicted, haven't looked at it before. So much makes sense now.
I'm so glad to hear that, Audra, thank you. I was struck by the beauty of her complex and passionate personality.

She's definitely got the ravenous all-or-nothing sting from the Scorpion! Yes, it definitely feels like there was so much more for her to discover...
'Same stuff' ... that was meant to read. SS won't allow the edit!
Thank you Michelle 💜🙏
Big thanks, Lea! :)

That's so cool, Jodie! Thank you for this. I'm so moved by Plath's love/hate affair with life. Goosebump material!
