Wow, what an Aries season we all just went through… am I right?
One mere month ago, the Spring Equinox promised us baby lambs, fluffy chicks, and new beginnings… and then, of course, Eclipse Season hit. Phew! Raise your hand if you’re as tired as I am from that energetic vortex!
But now, here we are, on the precipice of our second chance at a fresh start. The Sun ingresses into Taurus at 1:45 PST on Friday, April 19th, letting overwrought lambs off the hook and putting all our aspirations onto the cute baby cows of mid-spring. Then, on the very next day, the sign of the earthy bull gets the world’s attention again, with the highly-anticipated Jupiter-Uranus conjunction happening at 21 Taurus.
Our crew here at Astrum Opus wrote y’all some love letters from Jupiter and Uranus, so check them out to see how this rare conjunction might rock your world. And, enjoy this embodied look at Taurus season, complete with our monthly guided meditation.
May this bullish energy give you the boost you need to blossom into the warmth of springtime! -Alison
Taurus in the Body
From where I write, it truly feels like Taurus season. The sun has a deep, rich warmth, soaking into my skin; the daffodils in my front yard shine like lightbulbs. I am making spring vegetable risotto for dinner with pea shoots, baby snap peas, young carrots, and edible purple flowers on top.
In North America, when colorful smells and aromatic tastes truly envelop the air from the depths of winter, Taurus season beckons us to indulge our senses. It’s a time to lay our bodies on Mother Earth as she warms and to connect with the roots and the soil after a fast and fiery Aries season.
In line with the sensual nature of the bull, in medical astrology, Taurus is the ruler of the neck, shoulders, throat, ears, vocal cord, and thyroid. Think about the simultaneous sensitivity and strength of these areas of the body. The neck tirelessly holds up our heavy heads, the shoulders are always ready for a massage, and the throat provides a channel for consuming nutrients and also expressing our own voices into the world. (Many famous singers have strong Taurus sun placements, like Adele, Lizzo, and Kelly Clarkson.)
Throat and bronchial illnesses are proliferating where I live—perhaps for you, too. Taurus season is a perfect time to give that part of your body some extra care. Warm teas with honey, osha root, and ginger, as well as self-massage, are wonderful ways to express gratitude for your neck and shoulder region.
Taurus in the Life Cycle
In the life cycle, Taurus represents toddlerhood and early childhood, the season in our lives when we transition from the innocence and overwhelm of infancy to the tactile and exploratory realm of the toddler. Like toddlers learning to crawl, Taurus is known to be drawn to touch, taste, and see everything in their immediate environment, and to be close to the earth. Taureans, like young children, are also driven by a need for stability, nurturance, and support from their relationships and their environments.
The Taurus archetype is focused on what it belongs to and what belongs to it. As the natural ruler of the second house, it’s the place of what we value and what we own, including material possessions but also our sense of place within the world. Ruled by Venus, Taurus is associated with the energy of love, romance, beauty, and aesthetics. Not a season for rushing things, it’s important to give yourself space and time this solar cycle to ground into your body and the earth.
Slow movements like neighborhood walks, yoga, and stretching are good exercises for this time of year. Indulging in the delights of food and drink as the world around you comes alive is par for the course, but remember to keep moving your body to aid your digestion and be wary of overindulgence this month. Humming and singing to yourself are also highly recommended Taurean activities, especially while getting your hands in the dirt and planting a spring herb garden! Herbs that support Taurus placements include the Venusian symbol of the rose and ginkgo biloba, which enhances Taurus’ underlying stability and wisdom.
Taurus Season Dates to Note
April 19: Sun enters Taurus. Mercury is also conjunct Venus in Aries, so expect the expressions of spring to be extra lovely this day.
April 20: Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus. The planet of expansion and growth meets the planet of unpredictability and electricity in the Venusian sign of the bull, catalyzing an unexpected magnification in the house of your chart that contains Taurus.
April 23: Full Moon in Scorpio. The Sun in Taurus opposite the Moon in Scorpio highlights the axis of security, resources, and intimacy- with yourself and others.
April 25: Mercury stations direct in Aries. The planet of communication and commerce is out of retrograde! What did you reflect on over the past three weeks?
April 29: Venus enters Taurus. Mars is conjunct Neptune this day as well, so as the planet of what we value enters the domain of the bull, there could be a deep motivation to pursue your dreams and wishes for the world.
May 7: New Moon in Taurus. This new moon is a great time to set intentions aligned with your values, enjoy arts and culture, and simplify your routines for the warmer months ahead.
May 15: Mercury enters Taurus. In Taurus, the wing-footed communicator will tackle issues of practicality and care.
May 20: Sun enters Gemini. And the season of late spring begins!

Laying my body onto Mother Earth? Yes, please, as soon as it stops raining... Thank you for all the valuable tips, and I'll be singing and humming for sure!
Thanks so much Bryan! Who was the astrologer you studied with? I believe I first framed the Zodiac this way through an evolutionary astrology lens when I studied with Sabrina Monarch, but I can’t quite remember. Its always been a storyline of the circle that I find quite compelling and relatable! I agree with those ages, and think the later signs obviousl vary depending on the lifespan at different times in history, so theres no set age for each phase exactly.
Just followed your Substack- i’m on a similar timeline of ‘coming out’ in the astro world and relate to your stories!
